I’m a Design Thinker and Strategist for social impact.
Using Design for
Social Good
I chose to go into design to solve problems and make things better for people.
I embraced design research as a specialty because talking to and observing people establishes which problems to solve. Design thinking creates ground rules for how to solve them meaningfully.
Working at small start-up consultancies, however, limited projects to clients who sought us out and could pay our fees. Public interest design challenges were barely even possible as pro-bono projects.
As an involved community member—PTA president for a large, diverse public elementary school; committee member securing a new public swimming pool—I see more than ever how my skills and experiences can be used to address larger, social needs.
The public sector has every challenge that a consumer product company has, including understanding users, innovation and new product development, marketing, and adoption strategies.
This is where my passion lies.
